Project summary:
Lublin Concept is a poster series exploring the city’s identity through experimental typography and graphic composition.
The project interprets the rhythm, atmosphere, and cultural contrasts of Lublin using type as the primary expressive medium. The resulting typographic system balances structure with visual energy and can adapt across multiple applications.

Context:
This typographic project aimed to explore Lublin’s visual identity conceptually.
Rather than redesigning the city’s branding, the goal was to translate its character, historical depth, and contemporary energy into a typographic language for posters.

Problem:
The challenge was to communicate the city’s essence without relying on literal or clichéd imagery.
Historical references, urban textures, and contemporary culture needed to coexist in a system that is expressive yet legible and adaptable.

Design challenge:
Create a typographic direction that:
Captures identity and atmosphere through type
Balances historical depth with contemporary aesthetics
Maintains flexibility for multiple applications
Communicates narrative rather than literal information

Key design decisions:
The concept was built around tension, layering, and rhythm to reflect the city’s architectural, cultural, and historical complexity. Type is treated as a dynamic structure, capable of variation, interaction, and evolution. Hierarchy, spacing, and contrast guide perception while maintaining expressive energy.

Process / Accessibility Improvements:
Researched urban textures, signage, and spatial compositions
Studied historical references and contemporary city visuals
Iterated letterforms, weight, and contrast to balance legibility and expression
Developed modular compositions that mimic movement, density, and hierarchy
Typography was tested to ensure readability and conceptual clarity across print and digital formats.

Solution:
The resulting typographic system focuses on:
Strong hierarchy and modular composition
Controlled contrast between weights and spacing
A balance between structure and visual energy
Typography functions as both content and form, shaping perception while conveying the city’s atmosphere.
The project demonstrates how type can be a strategic tool for visual storytelling and concept-driven design.
